The Denver (CO) Chapter of The Links, Inc. launched the Girl Fierce Leadership Program in May 2023, welcoming sixteen (16) emerging leaders from a variety of academic settings – public, private and homeschooled. The Girl Fierce program caters to young girls within the African diaspora who are entering the 6th grade. The primary aim of the Girl Fierce program is to empower and nurture young girls by exploring topics related to self-awareness, arts and culture, college and career readiness, healthy lifestyles, STEAM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts, and Mathematics), as well as civic and social impact.

To date, our Girl Fierce Leaders have engaged in various enrichment activities organized as the Foundations of Fierceness. Activities have included developing an affirmations vision board, introduction to African dance, a meet-and-greet with Vice President Kamala Harris, a private screening of The Little Mermaid, a water safety demonstration, a community service exercise on food insecurity, and a science & art-based exercise promoting self-awareness. Community service opportunities are woven throughout the program giving participants a chance to connect to local issues and one of the defining attributes of The Links, Incorporated.

Finally, the Girl Fierce Leadership program is a multi-year program designed to have a high touch instruction and mentoring impact on young leaders beginning in the sixth grade and continuing thru the eighth grade.
